Builder Reviews

Bruce and his team added a bedroom and bathroom  to our home, transitioning new materials to a 1960s house wasn’t an issue with good insight and preparation, the entire job went smoothly and the workmanship was of a very high standard .

The suggestions  and advice we received were a good indication of knowledge and experience of the building industry.

We would recommend Bruce and would be happy to work with him again .

Dear Bruce

I am delighted to write an endorsement for the above-mentioned company for you to display on your web page

Up until my retirement in mid-2014, I was the Care Home Manager for Bupa Care Services at Merrivale Care Home in Whangarei. We engaged Bruce McQueen Carpenters (BMC) to undertake a significant project, which involved extensive renovations inside the facility and the construction of a new 15-bed dementia unit. Bruce and his team undertook this work with skill and professionalism and the result was stunning. The quality of the work was excellent. Not only did Bruce consult and keep me informed about progress, but also all the builders on site established a respectful and caring attitude towards the elderly residents. They took the time and trouble to ensure the residents' safety and would schedule work to minimize disruption. Management and staff appreciated this.

Early in 2018, I engaged BMC to replace the roof on the porch at my home and undertake repairs on my garage. Once again, the work was completed in a timely manner and with skill. I was delighted with the result.

I would not hesitate to recommend Bruce and his team to others and indeed recently put his name forward for a project for Alzheimers Society Northland Inc. I am the Board Chair of that Society.

Sincerely,

Beth Kelly

To whom it may concern,

This letter is a reference for Bruce McQueen. I have known Bruce for over 25 years. During this time he has done a number of building jobs for me. He has worked on renovations at my old farmhouse installing bi-fold French doors and other intricate and tricky work. The French doors are used extremely frequently and have worked perfectly from the day Bruce installed them to the present day - a period of 25 years!

More recently Bruce has finished a complete refurbishment of our business property at 101 Cameron Street in the CBD of Whangarei. We are absolutely delighted with the results and Bruce's workmanship. I would be more than happy to have anyone inspect this work.

I have always found Bruce to be easy to work with and his standard of work to be very high. It is a pleasure to be able to wholeheartedly recommend Bruce McQueen and his workmanship.

Kind regards,

Martin Albrecht, GoodGround Real Estate Ltd.

This is to confirm that Bruce Mc Queen, builder of Kamo Whangarei managed the renovation of Tau Henare Marae from Mar to July 2017. Throughout the project he was very professional, kept the project to budget and timeframe, managed the tradesmen who worked at the Marae, to time and quality of work. He was a pleasure to work with, responding patiently to small changes in the workplan.

The wharenui was completely renovated, having been built in 1930’s. It was re roofed, insulated, the whole exterior was repainted, replaced all electrical wiring and installed all LED lighting on the whole Marae complex indoors and out. The Marae installed a state of the art AV suite in the wharenui. The downstairs area was completely re blocked and enclosed to provide a large store room for mattresses.

All building compliance certificates were furnished at the end of the project, including all electrical and evacuation compliance. H&S evacuation signage and extinguishers and hoses were also installed or updated including a siren booming smoke alarms and lit ingress and egress signs for front and back doors to the wharenui. As a consequence of this work, the Marae was able to be insured for its total value, for the first time.

We are grateful to Bruce and his team of tradesmen who carried out the work on Tau Henare Marae and recommend their standard of work and professionalism and especially the timeliness to complete the work.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

We write this testimonial in regard to Bruce McQueen Carpenters Ltd of Whangarei.

We contracted this company to build our new home in March 2017. Following the recommendation of their principal Bruce McQueen, we worked with him alongside a local house designer whose plans we submitted to council for building consent. This process inevitably took some time but once submitted consent was forthcoming well within the statutory period. Work commenced in May 2017and continued uninterrupted until completion in early November. The entire process was virtually seamless and we are very happy with the final result.

The project is a credit to Bruce McQueen Carpenters whose continual hands on approach, working with their personally approved sub contactors, ensured that any glitches were promptly and efficiently dealt with. The entire team were a pleasure to deal with.

The completed build has caused considerable favourable comment with many passers-by asking for the builder’s particulars.

In summary we recommend Bruce McQueen carpenters unreservedly to anyone who wants a professional and efficient build.

Dear Bruce,

The Tau Henare Marae Committee, are so grateful, that you were our chosen builder and project Manager

For the huge task that we presented to you, to refurbish our Marae.

Your carpenter, was there from dawn to dusk quietly working away. The job he did downstairs was remarkable

Before you came, and had it all remodelled, it was abit scary down there, full of junk. We are now making full use of that area as a mattress/pillow

Store room. The extra room and shelving, has been long overdue for our Marae. The mattresses are no longer an eye sore, as we previously had to hold them in the Marae.

That was a huge task getting that area ready for storage, with all the workmen involved from the ones outside with the digger to create drains to stop the dampness  and inside to waterproof/anti mould and paint the concrete wall. The cutting of the two sections under

The stage was a clever idea, we can push the mattresses down/back when required now. We also had the two tanks at back installed.

The  rooms on each side of the stage, serves their purpose well, one is used as an office and the other is where all the linen is stored.

With the extra shelves and cupboards built by your carpenter, it just makes it so tidy, with heaps of storage. The linen is now all the cupboards.

The replacement of the roof, was another huge task, that you arranged with the contractors, as the building is  wide  and very long. To put the new tins up there ,took a couple of days to finish, the spoutings all had to be replaced. It looks really great now.

Your other job, was to replace all the rotten timber around the Marae and at the base of building.

Then we had the whole marae painted, and I know that was without headaches for you, but you managed to sort it all out. The first lot of painters were pretty useless as you recall.

The electricians came in and rewired the whole building, and put led lights in Marae and dining room. Also installed lights out in the carpark and in front of Marae. Installed  new heat pumps. We are the only Marae around with heat pumps, and the envy of the district.

The electricians did extra work for Delaraine, to install projector etc. Great work.

Bruce, I know having you out here,  you were asked to to carry out extra tasks  etc, that had nothing to do with original plans. But you were so good to oblige, with all those bossy women around the place. I don’t think any other builder, would of coped with that. The renovations were all completed

To the timeframe agreed upon.

There are photos on Tau Henare website, from January 2017, when you came out to discuss plans with the trustees.

There are also progress photos, I think Delaraine may have taken.

I have no hesitation, in calling on you and your team to carry out any other big projects we may have in the future.

Good Luck with progressing your business. Our Marae looks so nice, and we have people remarking about the same thing.

Regards,

Betty Cherrington, Tau Henare Marae Committee.

Bruce has an excellent team and is very good at organising them, make for a smooth and efficient use of time and avoiding unnecessary Delays.

Julie & Bill

We recently moved our Whangarei store into new premises that required building renovations, painting, electrical work. Bruce was recommended to us through an associate and from our first meeting with Bruce to discuss the project through to the completion nothing was a problem.

As I’m based in Auckland, Bruce handled the complete project and apart from having a look every so often this project was a fuss free exercise that made life easy for us. The standard of work carried out and speed we are more than happy with and I have no hesitation in recommending Bruce for anyone needing any building/ renovation work done

Thank you, Bruce,

Hemi Toia, Mount Shop

I the owner of the Otika shopping complex have had Bruce McQueen Carpenters and his team do multiple jobs for me over the years and would highly recommend Bruce for all your building projects.

His team recently gave the Otika takeaways and dairy a total upgrade to come up to date with the health and foodstandards.

Both these jobs went very smoothly for myself as Bruce kept me inform and updated with all the progress.

Bruce has built new homes, additions, alterations and several other commercial projects for myself over the years and wouldn’t hesitate putting Bruce’s name forward for all your building jobs.

If you want a high quality job call Bruce

Regards

B Otway, Otika Shopping Complex

Bruce McQueen Carpenters did our garage addition and reroof for us which was a pleasure given the fact that I wasn’t there most of the time as I work down in Auckland.

Bruce’s team did a very profession job and nothing was too much trouble to ask and the job was done, on time and to our budget.

Thanks so much

Regards

M Smith, Garage Addition

Over the years Bruce has done several jobs for me.

I have found Bruce McQueen Carpenters to be very helpful and courteous.

He does his very best to fit in with the clients needs in every way possible.

His workmanship is of a very high standard.

I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone that’s wanting a good job done.

“Bruce came to us to modify our home to create better wheelchair access for my husband who is in a wheelchair. He was very easy to deal with and we were happy to have him in our home. He was very considerate and I just can’t say enough about him. We were definitely happy with the work he did for us; in fact, we have asked him back to do more.”

Marj Pou

“Bruce worked with us on an extension to a rest home, helping to create a dementia wing and also refurbish some of the existing facility. He was very good to work with, and very professional. He had good time management too.”

Phil Cheney Stryde Projects

“Bruce worked on our 100-year-old villa for about six to eight months. It was a big project, and often, as he pulled up some floors or walls, he would find rotten areas that needed to be replaced. He worked on both the inside and the outside of the villa and took great care with his work. He did such a great job and took real pride in his work. We are really happy with the result and we would highly recommend him to anyone.”
